If you do not wish to use the many pre-made report styles that come with the ALIS package, you may opt to either buy the optional Clarion Report Writer and/or ODBC Driver to create your own or you can have Desert Oasis Software Company (DOSC) do it for a nominal fee.

Extractions: Our initial product is the Kahiltna Pesticide Application Record Keeping Database I developed and have used at Lakeside Orchards for the past 12 years, a Microsoft Excel based pesticide record keeping database. The Kahiltna database is a pesticide application record keeping database I initially developed using the Microsoft Excel 4 macro language. The current workbook based version, with Pivot Table worksheets, macro functions, and Excel VBA code, will run on a PC and possibly on a Mac, and requires Microsoft Excel 97, Excel 2000, or Excel XP for Windows or an equivalent Microsoft Excel version for the Mac. I was not satisfied with the capabilities of some of the affordable record keeping programs that were available so I developed my own. The advantage of developing your own program is that it is easy to add additional features as you need them. Thus the program has grown over the last few years. The most important feature of this program is the capability for multiple simultaneous record entry. This is a tremendous time saver. The records for all the blocks with the same pest that received the same product and product application rate per acre can be entered with a single mouse click. The database keeps records on all items required by the EPA and the state of Maine, including the ability to input weather data at any interval desired. (Maine Drift Regulations require weather data at least every 2 hours or oftener if needed to reflect changes.)

Extractions: The software incorporates several databases, including soils, Conservation Priority Areas and watersheds, to allow for more precise eligibility, financial and other determinations in a timely fashion. These enhancements will speed the offer process and require less FSA processing time, resulting in program cost savings. FSA also has developed a CRP Geographic Information System tool to be used by county offices to calculate acreage and the maximum soil rental rate for land being offered. FSA has been working to transform all of its farmland maps to a digital or GIS format. This conversion allows for more accurate acreage calculations and for a more precise mapping of soil types. The GIS tool will also reduce the manual tracking and calculations done in the county offices and result in more efficient program administration.
